Blog #34; the Audio Experience

Perhaps you are wondering about my audiobook and have listened to the sample on Audible or another platform.  The narrator's voice gives a different dimension to the story, and allows for a totally different experience than reading the book.

If you have read the book, I thank you and hoped that you enjoyed it.  But you may wish to get an audiobook version, and experience a fuller immersion into the characters and story.

And I can't say enough good things about Jimmy's narration.  I was thoroughly pleased with all his narrating work on IN LOVE AND WAR, and I would seriously consider him for future projects.

Blog #33; NEW AUDIOBOOK, IN LOVE AND WAR

A story of love and loss, intertwined with questions of family, loyalty, and making hard decisions in hard times.   There is no easy way out for Mack, in love as he is with Inga, his German girlfriend forced to return to Germany.   And David, the best friend with aspirations to be a cardiologist, enlists as a combat medic.  Will Mary, Mack's sister, believe that David's love for her is true before he goes off to combat in Italy?

And we see the conflict from the German perspective, both civilian and military, and how the war is a senseless waste for all involved.  The story has brought readers to tears, and deeply moved those who suspend prejudice and see the characters as human beings and their human frailties as some we all share.  Now we are releasing it as an audiobook.

We see the Jewish perspective from David and his colleagues who end up in a concentration camp called Buchenwald. No one escapes the war unscathed, and many will not survive...

Blog #32; GET YOUR FREE AUDIOBOOK WHILE THEY LAST!

It was a simpler, easier understandable world.  There were the defined good guys (us) and bad guys (Nazis), and so many people knew exactly where they stood.   Not Mack.  See, he had fallen in love with a German girl, who was going back to the homeland with her parents.   Inga and Mack were torn asunder.   Could anything be done to reunite them?

A heart-breaking tale, moving, with an unexpected and devastating twist ending.   Access your FREE COPY of the audiobook IN LOVE AND WAR by going to this link.

Blog #31; the making of an audiobook--one writer's journey

I figured for this blog I might as well describe the adventure I have been going on for the last few months in turning my debut novel into an audiobook format.   First, I selected ACX, an audiobook distribution hub that also provides narrators and producers for the books.   I chose this mainly because it cost me no money up front (although my narrator/producer got 20% of the profits while I got the same).

I started the easy to follow process and soon narrowed down my narrator/producers to two or three.   One really stood out though.  Like me he is a veteran of the Air Force, and was also familiar with Germany and German accents.  His name is Jimmy Moreland and I would highly recommend him, particularly for historical/military fiction.

The actual process took a few months, and I ended up with an excellent audiobook.   It was strange at first to hear my words out loud when before then I had always heard them while reading silently.  Jimmy really fleshed out and made the characters come alive in a whole new dimension.

What I had not counted on was the 10 day wait period while QC goes over the final audiobook, before releasing it for distribution.  Also, I am still unclear about how to get people to review the book for free.   Many reviewers charge for their reviews, some quite a lot, but few give a free, unbiased estimate of the book's appeal and story.

I have found the whole experience with ACX to be exciting and pleasant and I am greatly looking forward to the Launch, coming in a few days!

Right now, I will need reviewers.   If you find my stories interesting or just would like the opportunity to express yourself about IN LOVE AND WAR, the audiobook, contact me at this blog and when free copies become available for US and UK customers, I will direct you to your free audiobook.

Blog #30; Happy Independence Day! Within the week the audiobook version of IN LOVE AND WAR should be on sale

Hello, readers and future listeners!  Welcome to the new cover for the audiobook version of IN LOVE AND WAR.  You can also find my trailer for the audiobook on this webpage!  The audiobook is going through a last check of quality control and it should be released shortly.  I'd like to thank Jimmy Moreland for his excellent narrating and production skills!

Meanwhile, expect a BRAND NEW short story collection called FIRST, DO NO HARM in the coming weeks.  It will be filled with the kind of quality writing that originally won the author his first prize as a short story writer. If you like contemporary and historical fiction, this blog is the place to be.

This is quite a milestone, and I wouldn't have been able to make it this far without a lot of help from a lot of people.  I am so grateful for my family, friends, and all the kind souls who have supported me along the way!

Cheers!
