Blog #145; Some Additional Thoughts on Self-Publishing

My original thoughts on self-publishing were that I would end up having some of my work in print no matter what, that no New York publisher could stand in the way of me and eventual publication.  That the best of my writing would survive past my time on this planet, and that my step-sons, nieces and nephews and their children will  one day live on to see the kind of person I was, and particularly, the kind of writer I had become.  I believe I have achieved that goal and now have left a lasting legacy I can be proud of.

Blog #144; Reaching Out to Readers

I have noticed that in my latest give away, I have had a few readers from Germany and the UK ordering copies.  Seeing as these countries participated in the war, I am happy about this and my interest is peaked, but I do wonder if you could give me some feedback when you have finished the books?  What rang true to you?  What seemed false?  How can I improve my writing about this era in history in your country?  I am curious what the  readers think about them.

Blog # 142; to Self-Publish or Not Self-Publish

A while ago, I made the decision to start self-publishing  my books, around 2015.  I have sold (or given away) a few thousand books, and have had a modest success critically.  I do have a novel that I am shopping around with LDS publishers, and I ask that you wish me luck for that.  I have no idea if I will be successful in this venture, but I know I will always have some readers if I self-publish.

Blog #141; Some thoughts on Life and Happiness

I am working on a novel about the life of a man who lived throughout the 20th century and towards the end it gets a little reflective.  What meaning do you come away with after living a full life?  What makes up a full life?  I don't think I come up with adequate answers to those questions, but I think the questions are worth asking in the first place.

What makes us happy?  I have thought a lot about this, as my religion asks a lot of questions about the "Plan for Happiness" and seems to answer them quite well.  Surrounded by family that loves him at the end of his life, I think the main character has found the secret to a happy life.  What are your thoughts?

Blog #140; Story collection for review

For all book reviewers: I have available audiobooks of REDEMPTION:STORIES for review.  Just contact me at this website or email me at provocanyonreview@gmail.com and I will give you a Free Code to access the stories.

After taking a much needed break from writing, I am back to writing poetry and short stories, and trying to fill up the well for the next book.  I have already written some new stories, but nothing I would feel comfortable sharing as of yet.  I am part of a support group of writers at the VA, and I have been sharing some of my work with them.  Feel free to comment on this or any other Blog, and feel free to contact me about reviewing my books.

Cheers!
